Sugars(TM) is a process modeling and simulation
computer program used by sugar companies and engineering firms
around the world to improve beet and cane sugar factories and
refineries. Sugars is fast and user-friendly to provide
material, energy and color balances along with net process
revenues. It has a full graphical interface using Microsoft(R)
Visio to build, display and change models.

| Training Sessions |
|
Shown above (L-R) are Mr. Raul Daré
and Mr. César Martins from Zillo Lorenzetti, Sao Paulo,
Brazil and Mr. Matt Leigh (Sugars International) at a
3-day training session in Englewood, Colorado during
December 2006 in Englewood, Colorado. Training covered
model building, data display, error evaluation and the
AMS feature for data import/export of Sugars data. Many
different models were built and discussed along with
different techniques for displaying results from the
balance calculations.
Other training sessions were held in 2006 for
American Crystal Sugar Company in Moorhead, Minnesota
and the Western Sugar Cooperative in Scottsbluff,
Nebraska.

The Advanced Monitoring System (AMS) feature allows
data exchange between management information systems and
Sugars. This system makes it possible to have material,
energy and color balances on demand. Changing conditions
in the factory can be analyzed quickly to evaluate their
impact on the performance of the factory and 'what if'
alternatives can be viewed using the latest factory
data. The AMS imports and exports data in the industry
standard XML format. Click on the image of the poster on
the left to download an Adobe pdf of the poster, or on
the link below to download a pdf of a paper about the
AMS.
Posters describing the AMS were presented at the
S.I.T. Conference in La Baule, France, the S.P.R.I.
Conference in Águas de São Pedro, S.P., Brazil and the
ISSCT Engineering Workshop in Veracurz, Mexico. Also, a
paper on the AMS was provided to delegates at the
S.P.R.I. Conference in Brazil.
The AMS is a joint development between
Industrieprojekt (IPRO) GmbH and Sugars International
LLC.

| New Users |
|
Sugar companies, engineering firms and equipment
suppliers in 34 countries have purchased a license to
use Sugars. Since the last Sugars Letter in 2006,
companies in Australia, India, Thailand, United Kingdom
and the United States have joined the growing list of
Sugars users.
|
| Excel and Sugars |
|
Data from Sugars can be exported to an Excel
spreadsheet that is either embedded into the model
diagram or external to the diagram. This feature gives
users the ability to make their own reports or summary
calculations in Excel. Details are given in the link
below.
